Thank you to all who participated in a one-day workshop spent looking at the Steps
It was held on Saturday, Aug. 16, 2025 | 9:00a to 5:00p Old North Abbey – 2537 Fairmont Blvd, Knoxville
All members were welcomed—whether they or not they were new or had been in the program for many years. We covered Steps One through Eight, spending time on each Step in order. Some attended for the full day or while others came just for the Step(s) most relevant to them. The schedule appears at the end of this message.
Each Step followed the same simple format:
We read the Step as it appears in recovery literature
I shared how I applied each Step in my own recovery (recognizing that there’s no single “right” way)
We concluded with open discussion and questions
My hope was to make the Steps more approachable—especially for those who have heard them read many times but had not seen how they can be used in daily life.
Please Note: This was not an official SA event. It was simply one member sharing what helped him stay sober, one day at a time. They đid not seek to complete any Steps during the workshop—that kind of work is best done with your sponsor. This is an introduction based on personal experience, not a substitute for working the Steps in full.
What to Bring:
If you have the AA Big Book and/or the SA White Book, bring them (extra copies will be available)
A notebook and pen, if you’d like to take notes
If possible, read pages 5–42 in Step Into Action beforehand (recommended but not required)
Lunch and dinner was ordered on that day and some brought their own food
Other Details:
There was no cost to attend
Coffee, cold water, and light snacks will be available throughout the day
This was a closed event—open only to those seeking personal sexual sobriety
